Revora Spanish Open: Szewczyk leads qualifiers into last 32

Rankings leader Wojciech Szewczyk won all three of his Friday matches in Gandia; David Alcaide and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz needed hill-hill wins to join him.

Wojciech Szewczyk won three matches on Friday to lead 16 winners'-side qualifiers into the last 32 of the Revora Spanish Open in Gandia, the final Predator Euro Tour stop of the season.

Playing his first match since reaching the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball semi-finals in Doha, the Euro Tour standings leader beat Niklas Dohr 9-5 and Timothei Furko 9-8 before sealing qualification 9-5 over Walter Laikre. Fellow Doha semi-finalist Daniel Maciol was even more emphatic: 9-2 over Delmon Khwaja, a 9-0 whitewash of Sky van den Berg and 9-2 over Roger Lysholm.

Home favourites needed deciders. David Alcaide beat Raul Martin Muela 9-4 then edged Dennis Laszkowski 9-8, while Francisco Sanchez Ruiz downed Radoslaw Babica 9-6 and Petr Urban 9-8.

Konrad Juszczyszyn was the day's surprise losers on the winners' side — after beating Renzo Sierra 9-4 he fell 8-9 to Tomasz Kaplan and must come through Saturday morning's losers' qualification. Babica's tournament ended in the final losers' wave, 7-9 to Dmytro Skorokhodov.

Also through unbeaten: Wiktor Zielinski, Ivica Putnik, Felix Vogel, Luca Menn, Emil-Andre Gangflot, Eric Mattern, Jaroslav Polach, Fabio Rizzi, Yuma Dorner, Sambor Stachowiak (9-8 over Mateusz Sniegocki), Oliver Szolnoki and Kaplan.

The 16 survivors of the last losers' wave — among them Yannick Pongers (9-8 over Juan Carlos Exposito), Jonas Souto (9-8 over Tobias Bongers) and Hubert Lopotko (9-8 over Dimitri Jungo) — return at 9:00 local time Saturday for the losers' qualification round that completes the last-32 field. The single-elimination phase follows at noon, race to 11, with the title decided Sunday at the final Euro Tour stop of 2026.
