GANDIA — David Alcaide made a perfect start to the Revora Spanish Open on Thursday, winning both his matches on home soil as the final Predator Euro Tour stop of the season got under way.

The Spaniard blanked compatriot David Prieto 9-0 before beating Dominik Regieli 9-4 in winners' round one at the Gandia Palace Hotel. Francisco Sánchez Ruiz, another home favourite, also advanced with a 9-4 win over Maj Badovinac.

Wojciech Szewczyk and Daniel Macioł — both fresh from deep runs at the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball — advanced without playing in round one and enter play Friday at 14:15 local time, against Niklas Dohr and Delmon Khwaja respectively. Alcaide resumes in winners' round two at 9:00 against Raul Martin Muela.

Why it matters: The last Euro Tour stop of 2026 is the final chance to move the year-end rankings, and Szewczyk's lead is under threat from a tightly packed top ten. The €60,700 men's event plays race-to-9 double elimination to the last 32 before switching to single-elimination race-to-11. The women's tournament begins Friday with world No. 1 Pia Filler the top seed.
