DOHA — Joshua Filler beat AJ Manas 13-6 in Thursday's Qatar World Cup 10-Ball final at the Ezdan Palace Hotel, claiming the $100,000 top prize.

The German, a former world champion, had knocked out world No. 1 Wojciech Szewczyk 11-9 in the afternoon semi-final. Manas, the last Filipino in the field, takes $40,000 as runner-up after his hill-hill 11-10 semi-final win over Daniel Macioł.

Why it matters: Filler came through the toughest half of the draw — beating the world No. 1 before surviving the final — and banks the sport's biggest cheque of the week. Manas's run to the final is still the Philippines' best result of the tournament.
