DOHA — Both Kaci brothers crashed out of the $450,000 Qatar World Cup 10-Ball on Tuesday as the Last-64 knockout round ran its course at the Ezdan Palace Hotel, former world 10-ball champion Eklent Kaci beaten 11-6 by the Philippines' Rocky Tullao and Kledio Kaci falling 11-7 to Poland's Wiktor Zielinski.

Defending champion Jonas Magpantay opened his title defence with an 11-4 win over Hsu Jui An, while world No. 1 Wojciech Szewczyk (11-3 over Juri Pisklov), Francisco Sánchez Ruiz (11-3 over Marlon Cañeda), Carlo Biado (11-6 over Mateusz Śniegocki) and Joshua Filler (11-8 over Ameer Ali) all reached the Last 32. Fedor Gorst needed the full distance, edging Marco Teutscher 11-10.

The clearout ran deeper than the Kaci brothers: Alex Kazakis lost 11-7 to Konrad Juszczyszyn, David Alcaide fell 11-7 to Robbie Capito, Naoyuki Oi went down 11-9 to Mahmoud Charif, Niels Feijen was beaten 11-5 by Olivér Szolnoki and home favourite Ali Al-Obaidli was eliminated 11-8 by Alex Pagulayan. Mustafa Alnar — the man who sent Filler to the losers' side in the opening round — won again, edging Bernie Regalario 11-10.

Why it matters: With both Kaci brothers, Kazakis, Alcaide and Oi gone inside a single day of knockout play, the Last-32 draw has cracked open — and six Filipinos (Magpantay, Biado, Tullao, Miguel Salvilla, Jerico Bonus and Jefrey Roda) carry the largest national presence into Wednesday's races to 11, two days out from the $100,000 final.
