Echeverria, Vogel, Menn, Van Berkel reach Spanish Open semi-finals
Euro Tour standings leader Wojciech Szewczyk and home favourite Francisco Sanchez Ruiz both fell in Sunday's quarter-finals in Gandia.
Iker Andoni Echeverria, Felix Vogel, Luca Menn and Mika van Berkel won their quarter-finals at the Revora Spanish Open in Gandia on Sunday — a session that eliminated Euro Tour standings leader Wojciech Szewczyk and home favourite Francisco Sanchez Ruiz.
Echeverria beat Szewczyk 11-7, Vogel edged Mieszko Fortunski 11-10 in the day's only hill-hill finish, Menn beat Sanchez Ruiz 11-7 and van Berkel beat Fabio Rizzi 11-7, all four matches raced to 11.
Echeverria meets Vogel and Menn faces van Berkel in Sunday's semi-finals, with the champion crowned at 20:00 local (Sunday order of play).
Why it matters: With the standings leader and the crowd favourite both gone at the season's final Euro Tour stop, the title is up for grabs — and Echeverria now carries Spain's last hope into the evening session.
