Rays move within one win of World Series
Drew Rasmussen controlled Game 5 as Tampa Bay returned home with a 3-2 series lead.
Tampa Bay beat Cleveland 3-1 in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday, moving within one victory of the World Series.
Drew Rasmussen allowed one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. ESPN reported that the right-hander has a 1.29 ERA across three postseason starts.
The Rays scored once in each of the first three innings. Liam Hicks’ RBI single in the third made it 3-0 and proved to be the decisive cushion as Cleveland’s bats stayed quiet.
Game 6 is scheduled for Monday night at Tropicana Field. The Guardians need two road wins to reach the World Series, while Tampa Bay can clinch the AL pennant at home.
