# Martinez criticism adds edge to Manchester United defeat

*A blunt post-match interview turned the spotlight from a 2-0 loss toward recruitment and leadership.*

Manchester United lost 2-0 away to Atletico Madrid after Leny Yoro was sent off, extending the side’s winless run to five matches and leaving Michael Carrick’s team with two wins in nine this season.

Lisandro Martinez then said he “expected more” investment in the squad, prompting debate among former players over whether the criticism crossed a line. BBC Sport’s coverage also noted Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Lille on the same Champions League night.
